Find what your Mudi enjoys! Remember, your Mudi wants to do things with you!
Mudis, known for their vibrant and spirited nature, enjoy a variety of activities that keep their minds and bodies engaged. They revel in exploring the great outdoors, whether it’s hiking through lush forests or playing by the water’s edge. Social creatures at heart, Mudis thrive on interaction, often forming strong bonds with friends and family. They have a keen appreciation for playtime, whether it’s chasing after a favorite toy or participating in spirited games with their companions. Additionally, Mudis have a curious disposition, enjoying mental challenges that stimulate their intelligence, such as puzzle-solving or training sessions. Their playful energy and affection for adventure make them truly delightful companions.

Mudis are active and enthusiastic participants in a variety of sports that allow them to showcase their agility and playful spirit. One of their favorites is agility training, where they navigate through obstacle courses, demonstrating their speed and coordination. They also enjoy fetch games, where they can sprint after a ball or frisbee, relishing the thrill of the chase. Additionally, Mudis love dog sports like flyball, which involves quick relay races that engage their competitive nature. Swimming is another favorite pastime, especially during warm weather, as they dive into water with great enthusiasm. Whether it’s a structured sport or an informal play session, Mudis thrive on physical activities that challenge their athleticism and offer plenty of fun.
The Mudi is a breed that still has a strong herding instinct. We believe that while it is important to maintain the Mudi’s natural herding abilities, the breed is also very versatile, making it a contender in many active dog sports. Although most Mudi certainly show the ability to perform as a herding dog, we realize not all owners have the opportunity in which to foster this herding instinct, nor the means in which to expose their dog to sheep or cattle. We encourage any Mudi owner to have a simple herding instinct test done with their dog. Some may find it will open new doors of opportunity for themselves and their Mudi. Others may wish to target the sport like Agility, Flyball, Dock Diving, Scentwork, Tracking, Barn Hunt or FastCat in which to unleash their Mudi’s hidden talents. Don’t forget obedience and Rally, the possibilities are almost endless.
